Noëls

By the 17^th Century, instrumental transcriptions and keyboard improvisations based on noels had become a feature of church services during Advent and Christmas. Daquin's Noëls, owe much to the public improvisations so popular at the time. Not all of Darquin's variations rely on brilliance of finger, however; in each number the design and distribution of variations is different. This anthology provides a varied repertoire, each Noël with its own charm.
