Lone Coast

In Lone Coast, the music of George Lewis and poetry of Nathaniel Mackey portray the aftereffects of Hurricane Katrina: destroyed communities and dispossessed people. A sextet of singers playing bells or gongs and accompanied by an accordionist evoke lost lands in an unsettled world. The Ekmeles vocal ensemble and Iwo Jedynecki premiered Lone Coast in September 2023 at Norway's Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival.
