English summary: Clergywomen and clergymen still are seen as key persons for the presence of church in society. But there is a lot of pressure: shortage of jobs, a certain lack of future pastors, the changing role of church and religion in society. All these developments are challenging, and they raise the question whether the present shape and images of the profession are still sustainable. The present volume offers current empirical results from the Sociological Institute (SI) of the Evangelical Church in Germany. Topics are the stress factors concerning the pastoral profession, the public relevance of parsonages and the effects of instruments of personnel development. Church leaders and representatives from science and the Pastor Association are commenting these results and develop their perspectives for the pastoral profession.
