A West Indian meteorologist warns that a forthcoming hurricane will be more devastating than anything previously encountered. But rising civil unrest is distracting the locals too much for them to take any heed…

There is nothing abnormal about Hurricane Mabel except her ferocity; she should pass harmlessly amongst the islands of the Caribbean. But David Wyatt has developed a sixth sense about hurricanes. He is convinced that Mabel will change course to strike the island of San Fernandez and its capital, St Pierre.
