Synopsis

In this collection of witty images and titles of high-level entertainment, artist Wolfgang Neumann mediates confidently between joke and nightmare, between fashion and Kafkaesque worlds. In a surreal cross-fading of space and time, fiction and reality, Neumann succeeds in creating an alternate reality and parallel universe which he hails with the audacity of a harlequin or the oracle of the disenchanted as his own, at the same time dismissing it with common sense as an artistic that is artificial world. This work documents primarily recent paintings and electro-chemical etchings from 2010 and 2011 and published on the occasion of the exhibition Viva Navi Naiv at the Museum im Kleihues-Bau in Kornwestheim.
