Ernesto de Angelis (1943-2001) was a medical doctor and a passionate Neapolitan luthier whose book is a rare testimony of the art of making bowed instruments. It includes a brief history of the most important Neapolitan violin makers, precise descriptions of their unique instruments, and a photographic set of masterpieces, like Gagliano, Bellarosa, Altavilla, Iorio, and others, making it the first and unique "complete opera" on the Neapolitan School of Lutherie.
