Today Prosper Jolyot de Crebillon has been forgotten by literary history and studies of eighteenth-century theater. This work, which aims in part to repair this injustice, is the first modern critical edition of plays by an author who cannot be reduced to his reputed role as gravedigger of classical tragedy.
