These three comedies of Larivey are a complex canvas where both ancient and modern characters are represented. We find the swaggering soldier, the courtesan, the schoolchild, the inn-keeper, the doctor. The collection owes its unity to a comic language that is the expression of the different social classes sharing the stage.
