The comedies of Quinault, written between 1653 and 1665, reveal a skillful playwright and a virtuoso writer. They are representatives of comic theater between the Fronde and Moliere, and contributed to the development of comedy in five acts and in verse, while making use of the metatheatrical possibilities of this form.
