The Whispering Garden

The Whispering Garden tells the story of eight-year-old Katherine MacKenzie, who forms a deep bond with her great-grandmother Louise Etchison after Katherine's mother abandons the family. Together, they create a beautiful garden behind Louise's cottage, where Louise teaches Katherine not only about plants and gardening, but also about life, love, patience, and finding wonder in simple moments. Their shared garden becomes a sanctuary of learning and connection, with Louise passing down wisdom through stories and hands-on lessons about nurturing growing things.
When Louise dies during Katherine's second winter, the grief-stricken child begins experiencing her great-grandmother's spirit in the garden, leading to daily conversations and continued lessons that help Katherine excel academically but isolate her from peers. With the help of her father and a counselor, Katherine gradually learns that holding onto Louise's spirit is preventing both of them from growing. Through a journey of letting go, Katherine discovers that love doesn't disappear when someone dies-it transforms and multiplies when shared with others.
