The tunes composed by Archie Dagg, Will Atkinson and Willie Taylor have had a profound influence on the musical traditions of northeast England and beyond, while the styles of playing exemplified by The Shepherds (Atkinson and Taylor with Joe Hutton), have been no less influential. This body of work is collected here for the first time, so that today's musicians can rediscover familiar tunes, many of which are still favourites in sessions, as well as finding pieces less well-known in the repertoire.
