Synopsis

In the powder keg of the Vendée, two sisters must choose between love and loyalty-and the choice may tear France apart.

Mary and Bertha are twin sisters with a dangerous legacy: they are the illegitimate daughters of a legendary royalist fighter from 1793, raised in isolation and nicknamed "the she-wolves of Machecoul." When the Duchess of Berry arrives in 1832 to ignite a royalist uprising and place her son on the throne of France, the twins are drawn into a conspiracy that will test everything they believe.

Both fall deeply in love with the charismatic Baron Michel Logerie. He pledges his heart to the gentle Mary, but he has also sworn his sword to the Duchess. As the Vendée erupts in rebellion and old hatreds from the Revolutionary wars resurface, misunderstandings and divided loyalties threaten to destroy them all.

Set during the same tumultuous period as *Les Misérables***, Alexandre Dumas** weaves a forgotten masterpiece of romance and revolution, featuring unforgettable characters like the deductive genius Dermoncourt and the Herculean Trigaud-Vermin. Despite its fierce title, this is ultimately a story of honor, passion, and the impossible choices demanded by history.

When the personal becomes political, can love survive the storm?
