Synopsis
Audrey Baldwin was one of the only female public defenders in America in 1958. She was also one of the best. When fugitive lounge pianist Jack Larsen is arrested for a thirteen-year-old murder, no one is willing to take the case. No one, that is, except Audrey Baldwin. But how do you investigate a crime whose trail has gone cold, and the only person who might be able to help thinks she's cursed?
Written in the post-noir style of a fifties crime novel, The Lying Ghost recreates 1958 Los Angeles in rich detail. This book is a must-read for fans of the books of Erle Stanley Gardner, Ross Macdonald, and Wade Miller.
