It's night, and the walls of Rachel's home creak in the darkness of the Australian bush. A recluse, her fear of other people has led her to make a life as far from them as possible. Her only human contact is with Mia, the woman who drops off supplies, and the occasional visit from her sister Monique. A hammering on the door. There stands a woman, Hannah, holding her sick baby Isaiah.
