The Last Step

The victim, found shot to death on a public stairway, is a recently paroled prison inmate. Is it a deliberate act of vengeance, and does it mean the killer will be looking for more victims? Detectives Jilly Garvey and Dan Lee are put on the case; but their colleague Leon Simpkins, who has taken an unexpected interest, seems to find it all striking uncomfortably close to home.
