The Gospel of Mark in Its Historical and Theological Context

This volume contains seventeen essays by international scholars on the history and theology of the Gospel of Mark. These essays address various topics on the exegesis, language, and text of Mark, including: the reception of the Hebrew Bible in Mark and the reception of Mark in later interpreters; the interpretation of specific passages and themes with various approaches and methods; an examination of eschatological and apocalyptic motifs, and an analysis of the unique theological contribution of Mark.
