Synopsis

A study of the texts and artifacts which pertain to the background and development of the cult of Min. One of the oldest and most important gods, his primary role was related to the perpetuation of agricultural prosperity, and the renewal of kingship powers. Examining material from early predynastic periods onward, this text seeks to assess chronologically the functional aspects of the cult as part of an overall socio-political order, both in the capital and in the provinces.
