Synopsis

*"The Monarch" Book 2 of Series Two follows the continuing adventures of the little brown bear called ANGUS BRUIN, known simply as AB to his pals.***In Book 1, Gran' Pa-Paw Bruin sat in his armchair by the fire and recounted the history of how the bears had travelled from the Apennines to the Scottish Lowlands. But stories by the fire are for the evening; the morning brings a new day and a new adventure, in this Book 2.Firmly established in his woodland home, his '*Cottagebarrel'*; and having already made many pals *(in Series One Books 1 to 6); Angus now decides to venture higher than he's ever gone before, up into the purple heather of the mist-covered hills. It is here, in the present moment, that he finally meets the guardian, 'The Watcher of the hills' he has only heard whispers of: "STRUAN", the Red Deer Stag. With sixteen tines upon his antlers, he is the true 'Monarch of the Glen.'
Struan is wise to the ways of his world. He speaks to Angus of the
'Tall People' who share the land; specifically, a Tall Hind with a Yellow Mane who he had named "Golden Hind", and her dogs. He teaches Angus that they are not to be feared, but understood. This meeting sets the stage for the events soon to unfold in Book 3 "The Tall People" and Book 4 "Gone Fishin' ", where the paths of the Bear and the 'Tall Hind' and 'Tall Fawn' (the children of the Hind), are destined to cross. For now, we breathlessly-climb the heather-covered hillsides with Angus, as he makes a Royal friend and looks out over his new homeland, with fresh eyes. Is this just a story? Or is it the weaving together of two worlds that astute readers may have already glimpsed elsewhere? That is for you to decide! Enjoy the journey.***
