The Call of the Friend

In this graphic novel, after a K-pop idol commits suicide, university student Wonjun visits his friend Jingu’s basement room, only to find unsettling changes. Jingu behaves coldly, a strange statue looms in the corner, and reality begins to fracture. Blurring the lines between hallucination and nightmare, this graphic novel explores guilt and de­spair through a Lovecraftian lens, creating a haunting tale of emotional and cosmic horror.

The Lovecraft Reanimated series are Korean reimaginings of tales by horror master H.P. Lovecraft. While honoring his eerie, grotesque imagery and the blurred boundaries between reality and fantasy, they subvert his racial prejudice and male-centered perspectives.
