The Birthday Present

Molly Dean's birthday is coming soon, and as a young farm girl living with her brother, sisters, and mother, she can hardly wait for her special day to come. However, her mother being the headstrong, practical one discourages her from expecting a party and tells her not to chase after rainbows and butterflies. Still, nothing can quell the young girl's daydreams the closer her birthday comes. One thing that Molly Dean didn't expect was her daydreaming and eager attempts to impress her peers at school land her into trouble. On that fateful day adorned in a paper crown, she dreads what her mother might think upon her return home. Much to both of their surprise, they recieve a special gift just for them that might not have been expected, but made her birthday much more special.The Birthday Present is based off of a true story in author Dorothy Harmon's life growing up, making for an even more special story.
