Tarnished Heroes

When Neil Douglas rushes to the scene of a stabbing on Hampstead Heath, he forgets his police training, leaving a good Samaritan in hospital and a murderer on the loose.

Tormented by guilt and memories of his father, Neil is determined to make up for his mistake by tracking down the killer in his own unofficial investigation. He has two weeks before the inquest and all the while he is baited over the air by Beth Porter, an attractive but ruthless radio phone-in show hostess.

But who was the dead woman? Who is trying to hide every trace of her past? And does her death have anything to do with a five-year-old murder case in which Neil's victim was the prime suspect?

The answers could cost Neil Douglas his career - or even his life.
