The volume presents a collection of state-of-the-art papers on styles of spoken communication. Contributions on methodology are complemented by empirical studies exemplifying styles in different genres and activity-types in natural exchanges.
The papers all show how the creation and use of oral styles is an extremely important constitutive rhetorical element for mutual understanding and the dynamics of the interaction studied and that its effect and relevance can be demonstrated. The papers all contain original analyses.
