This book continues a process of showing that the dynamic relationship between religion and society is far more significant-philosophically, historically, theologically and even sociologically-than is often credited. This book is about that interplay between the Christian faith and civil society in Australia in the time prior to and during the process of constructing a federated nation, and in the period since Federation. In so doing, this book continues the discussion of themes developed in 'Spirit of Australia I'.
