Specialised Lexicography in African Languages

This monograph discusses pertinent issues which should considered in the production of specialiseddictionaries in African languages. Special reference is made to a prospective Ndebele Linguistic and Literary Terms Dictionary. The issues discussed include lexicographic planning, data collection, data processing, lemma selection, the provision of data categories and the utilisation of dictionary structures.The monograph demonstrates and emphasises the need for theoretical guidance in all lexicographic tasks.
