Running from God
Synopsis
In the first section of this book, Jamie discusses the various ways in which a Christian relates with other Christians. He then moves into his primary teaching on how we all, in one form or another, are running from God. "We are all like Jonah," he states. "We hear God, but we turn and run the other way."
As we read the Bible and listen to the voice of God, we know what God's desire is for us. But for various reasons we don't want to obey. Instead of going to Nineveh, we set sail for Tarshish. What happens after that can be disastrous. But if, like Jonah, we eventually come around and agree to listen to God, He is just to forgive our initial disobedience. But if we remain rebellious, we risk allowing Satan to come in and deceive us. Wouldn't it be better to trust God from the outset?
