Review of Translation Criticism: In Search of a Practical Approach

This book discusses the issue of translation criticism, where inductive research methods are applied and generalizations are made systematically in terms of the advantages and disadvantages of the four models, namely the schemes of House, Newmark, Reiss, and Wilss. Their merits and the useful experience in the studies of China are carried on into the practical approach. Besides, in order to show how the practical approach is operated and test its workability, the translation of a passage from "A Dream of Red Mansions" is analyzed according to the integrated model.
