Ralph Compton: The Empire Trail

Andrew Buchanan has a problem. His small ranch in Southern California is being pressured by a bigger, unscrupulous competitor and the encroaching wave of the future, orange growers. The only chance he has to sell his cattle for real money is to take them south into Mexico. But he's about to discover that between bandits and angry competitors, human life south of the border is worth less than the price of a steer.
