Poetiken Des Terrors: Narrative Des 11. September 2001 Im Interkulturellen Vergleich

English summary: 9.11.2001 is considered a cultural and world-changing turning point. The view of this transnational media event is largely dominated by visual media and the Anglo-American view of events. A cross-cultural analysis of novels about September 11th proves however that the perception and interpretation of this seemingly global event is, from an intercultural point of view, configured differently in each case, as well as being connected to domestic memory discourses. This volume answers the following questions: 1. What do we learn from novels, that visual media do not convey? 2. Which discursive and narrative patterns generate knowledge about the attacks and their interpretation? 3. Can one speak of a new genre - the 9/11 novel? 4. What national differences exist in the perception, interpretation and the narrative of this global event? 5. To what extent does academia participate in the construction of such a turning point? German description: Der 11.9.2001 wird als kulturelle, weltverandernde Zasur betrachtet. Der Blick auf dieses transnationale Medienereignis wird weitgehend von visuellen Medien und der angloamerikanischen Sicht auf die Ereignisse gepragt. Eine interkulturelle Analyse von Romanen uber den 11. September belegt jedoch, dass Wahrnehmung und Interpretation dieses scheinbar globalen Ereignisses interkulturell je verschieden konfiguriert und mit nationalen Erinnerungsdiskursen verbunden wird. Der Band beantwortet folgende Fragen: 1. Was erfahren wir aus den Romanen, was die visuellen Medien uns nicht vermitteln? 2. Welche diskursiven und narrativen Muster produzieren das Wissen uber die Anschlage und ihre Interpretation? 3. Kann man international von einer neuen Gattung - dem 9/11-Roman - sprechen? 4. Welche nationalen Unterschiede gibt es in der Wahrnehmung, Interpretation und Narrativierung dieses globalen Ereignisses? 5. Inwiefern beteiligt sich die Wissenschaft an der Konstruktion einer Zasur?
