Peter Greenaway's Prospero's Books: Critical Essays

Discourse is ambiguous and plurivocal. Poststructuralists describe the discursive event as a site of conflict, thus offering an optimistic view of the relationship between language and power. This volume is in this context an invitation to seek a new kind of relationship with the discourses we employ. The critical essays collected in it reflect and are in a sense evidence of Greenaway's relocation of The Tempest along the fundamentally unstable boundaries between different discursive formations.
