Panegirico Per Luigi XIV. (1693-1694)

In the Latin panegyric to Louis XIV (1693-1694), young Lodovico Antonio Muratori praises four aspects of the French ruler's policies: success on the battlefield, patronage of the arts, the abolition of dueling and the defense of Catholicism (or rather the eradication of the "gramigna ugonottica" - huguenot scourge - with the repeal of the Edict of Nantes). This text, published for the first time today, anticipates themes that would later appear in many of his works, from Introduzione alle paci private to the Annali d'Italia and Pubblica felicita.
