Ovide Moralise: Livre I

This text presents Book I of Ovide moralise, a fourteenth-century French translation in verse of Ovid's Metamorphoses (edited by the Ovide en Francais team). In their rendition, the anonymous translator aimed to convey the didactic tone, poetical language, and underlying mechanisms of the poem. In this critical edition, the introduction summarizes the various episodes and critical studies and explains the allegorical approach.
