1. Julien Poirier is a co-founder of Ugly Duckling Presse, one of the most unique small presses of the 21st century, where he continues to serve as an editor. 2. Poirier lived in New York for a number of years while running Ugly Duckling and subsequently moved back to Berkeley where lives now - his writing reflects the feel of both East and West coast writing traditions and poetics. 3. This is Poirier's 3rd full-length and showcases his ability to blend abstract writing with a political message - Poirier's work is very politically engaged while not being rhetorical.
