English summary: Ukraine, Middle East and migration are the catchphrases underpinning the new edition of the Annual of the Osnabrueck Peace Forum which shines its spotlight on the current crises taking place in Europe. The power of the European Union to shape foreign policy appears overstrained in this context, with the internal cohesion of the EU being rocked as well. Policy failures committed by the EU member states keep emerging-in Afghanistan, in Syria, where the Europeans have passively looked on whilst civil war raged for years without intervening- nor with any noteworthy support for the EU candidacy of Turkey-a country where more than 3 million Syrians have fled to. That given, the crisis in Europe is metamorphosing into more of a refugee-phobia crisis, a burgeoning epidemic of abrupt and geographically variegated xenophobic fears and animosities. In counteraction thereto, the Osnabrueck Peace Forum leverages information, argumentative approaches and enlightening education into a rational discourse.
