Synopsis
Hilda Forgan has been found guilty of the murder of her elderly aunt, Anna Beatty. The jury decided that since Miss Beatty was completely paralysed, she could not have electrocuted herself in the bath without assistance. As her constant companion and soul heir, not even the considerable skills of the defending counsel could persuade the jury that Miss Forgan is innocent. Miss Forgan, however, insists that she was incompetently defended, and is determined to take her case to the Court of Appeal. But no barrister will be willing to assume her as a client - no one, that is, until Jeremy Scott steps into the breach.
