Okumene Im Denken: Karl Barths Theologie Und Ihre Interkonfessionelle Rezeption
Synopsis
Karl Barth was a dialogical thinker, who developed his theological positions through productive engagement with other theological conceptions and with many other theologians, across denominational boundaries. Being himself of Reformed confession, he engaged extensively in particular with Lutheran and Catholic theologians. For this reason many of his writings, especially his Letter to the Romans and his Church Dogmatics, raised great interest and caused a broad reception in various denominations. He left traces not only in Lutheran and Catholic theology, but also for example with Anglicans and Waldensians. This collection of essays gathers contributions that explore these connections and uncover the ecumenical potentials of Barth's theology, not least his ecclesiology. The volume documents an international conference, which took place in spring 2019 at the University of Munster.
