Alongside the satirical and worldly poems, this volume fully restitutes the spiritual and religious dimension to the oeuvre of Marot, a major figure of nascent humanism. A translator and editor of profane and sacred texts, he dedicated himself to the ancients, in particular Ovid, and notably "translated" the Book of Psalms and three of Erasmus's colloquies.
