Musik Im Blick: Visuelle Perspektiven Auf Auditive Kulturen
Synopsis
Auditory and visual cultures correspond to each other. Again and again we meet artists who feel connected to both areas, who express themselves both audibly and visually. In addition, the history of music thrives on fascinating relationships with the visual arts, motivated by contemporary discussions, parallel talents or synaesthetic dispositions of individuals. Musicological research is currently developing an increasing interest in thinking about visual elements in auditory cultures, specifically using images as sources of music history, analyzing (graphic) forms of notation or researching the relationship between moving images and sound. The close relationship between hearing and seeing is brought into focus in this volume and its forms of variation in the past and present in the four subject areas "theoretical preliminary considerations/prolegomena", "images as sources", "writing, notation and sound" and "images in movement reflected. The immense spectrum of "practices of hearing and seeing" is shown and a variety of methodological approaches are presented, applied and discussed.
