Appreciating poetry isn't about getting it right. It's about learning to listen differently, having the patience to slow down and enjoy the sounds and the pauses and the rhythm. How does the poem make you feel? What does it prompt you to imagine? Do any words or lines stay with you and why?

Sometimes the meaning and the feeling of a poem evolve over time, just as your perceptions and perspective change as well.

But, above all, appreciating poetry is about simply enjoying it in each individual's own way.
