Melancholy refuses to be unambiguous. In its historical variability and modern omnipresence, there is still untapped potential that this volume exploits. The phrase between attitude and discourse contours a field of tension between rhetorical stylization and scientific reasoning, in which melancholy has always been located and to which it owes its historical, artistic and creative dynamic to the present day.
