Synopsis

Anty Boisjoly is back in his most vexing mystery yet, because Massacre at Market Middling features two unrelated (or are they?) impossible (or are they?) murders, and a cold, bold, above-the-fold massacre at a flower show.

No sooner is Anty slyly swindled into judging a flower show in the biscuit-tin village of Market Middling than the chief suspect in a comprehensive nobbling of the competition is found murdered in a room locked from the inside.

And no sooner than that, Inspector Wittersham is on the scene investigating an altogether different murder on board a train in, by one of those coincidences that happen every six months or so, a compartment that was locked from the inside.

Massacre at Market Middling is the maddest mashup since the last Anty Boisjoly, and with two separate mysteries come two sets of suspects each with at least one secret constituting its own red herring, radically raising the standard by which herrings are read.
