Malay States Guides 1896-1919 A History

This book is the history of the Malay Straits Guides from their inception as an armed police force and through the period where they were a formal military unit. The book also contains the fascinating story of their time in Singapore at the start of the Great war where they were involved although not in the later violent incidents by the 5th Light Infantry which became the Singapore mutiny. The book also covers their war service in Aden up to their disbandment in 1919. It provides a key insight into some less researched areas of the Indian Army of the time.
