Horner and James Gorman with illustrations by Doug Henderson, Maia is a realistic account of the life a young dinosaur, written by the first paleontologist ever to discover an extensive dinosaur nesting ground in Montana in 1978. The discovery allowed scientists to piece together their understanding of a new species of duck-billed dinosaurs, the Maiasaur. A new foreword explains the changes in paleontology since the release of the book and discusses the importance of this book to dinosaur literature in the 1980s.
