Synopsis

Lucia Di Lammermoor, also known as Lucie Of Lammermoor, is an opera composed by Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti in 1848. The opera is set in Scotland and tells the tragic story of Lucia Ashton, a young woman who is forced by her brother to marry a man she does not love in order to save their family's fortunes. Lucia is in love with another man, Edgardo Ravenswood, and their love is forbidden due to a long-standing feud between their families. As the story unfolds, Lucia's mental state deteriorates, and tragedy ensues. The opera is divided into three acts and features beautiful arias and duets, including Lucia's famous ""Mad Scene."" Donizetti's Lucia Di Lammermoor is considered one of the great masterpieces of the bel canto operatic tradition and has been performed and recorded by many of the world's leading opera companies and singers. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
