Little Mouse & The Purple Door

Little Mouse and the Purple Door is an allegorical picture book for adults written by a survivor of the 2x2 (Two by Two) high-control religious group.

Through the story of a little country mouse - her beloved community, her trusted Elder, her betrayal, her exile, and her emergence into a larger world - this book speaks directly to anyone who has lived inside a high-control religious system and wondered if there was life on the other side of the door.

It is a book about the kindness that keeps you inside. The harm that finally pushes you out. The darkness after leaving. And the sun coming up anyway.

Written as a picture book, it works on multiple levels - as a healing tool for survivors, a bibliotherapy resource for therapists working with religious trauma, and a way to share your story with people you love who haven't lived it themselves. Ex-members of the 2x2 community have given it to their children.
