Limitations of the Honey Production Chain in the State of Paraíba: Main Problems Identified in Honey Production.DE

Honey production in Brazil is one of the activities that provides great opportunities for family farming in the northeast region of the country, enabling economic and social development for those engaged in this occupation. It is characterized as family farming because it is carried out by parents, children, and family members who see it as a form of occupation and income. In addition, when it comes to honey extraction, the barrier to entry for this occupation is low. Honey is the beekeeping product with the highest market demand, as it is used in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, in addition to being easy to market (FREITAS, KHAN, and SILVA, 2004). In addition to climatic conditions, technology, equipment, and techniques contribute to honey productivity. Vilela (2002) states that following the recommended technology in production and marketing honey properly leads to greater profitability in the activity.
