Synopsis

**Lily Longnose Finds a Home**- A Heartwarming Rescue Dog Story for Kids About Adoption, Kindness and Greyhounds

What happens when a racing dog finally finds a loving home? Meet Lily - a gentle greyhound who discovers that life after racing can be full of friendship, kindness, and second chances. This heartwarming true story helps children understand empathy, compassion, and the joy of giving animals a second chance.

Lily Longnose Finds a Home is based on the real life of a rescued greyhound from Perth, Australia. Lily was born into the greyhound racing industry, given the race name "Naughty Corner" and had 4 recorded races. She spent six weeks with a foster carer before she was adopted by her parents, Emily and Jakeb.

Colouring in pages and educational activities can be purchased from Lily's website to accompany the books.
https: //lilylongnose.com/ - More about Lily Longnose & Emily Norman -Emily is the proud mum of Lily Longnose - and now two human babies - and a passionate advocate for greyhounds. She loves using creative storytelling to spread messages of kindness, compassion, and animal welfare.

In 2023, Emily partnered with talented illustrator Katayha Gould to create the first Lily Longnose book, inspired by the real-life story of her rescued greyhound, Lily.

Emily lives in Perth, Western Australia, with her husband, Jakeb, their children, and Lily. Her weekends often involve taking Lily to local markets, sewing new outfits, or relaxing in the garden with her family. Through her work with children and young people in not-for-profit organisations, Emily has seen firsthand the importance of educating and nurturing the next generation. She hopes that the Lily Longnose books will help children develop empathy for animals and better understand the challenges faced by retired racing greyhounds - and their incredible potential as loving companions.

Lily Longnose The Fashion Star is the second book in the series and is inspired by a real-life event at Hounds Day Out, an annual market hosted by greyhound advocacy group Free The Hounds. The event celebrates greyhounds and brings together families, rescue groups, and sighthound lovers for a day of fun, community, and education.

In addition to writing books, Emily also designs sewing patterns for greyhounds and other pets, helping owners keep their animals comfortable, stylish, and safe.

While writing Lily's second book, Emily mentored young author Hannah Danesfaleh to create Georgia The Grey Comes Home to Stay. Hannah has since been recognised for her advocacy work, receiving an RSPCA Animal Welfare Award in 2025 and the Young Political Advocacy Award from the Australian Alliance for Animals in 2026.

Emily loves visiting schools and libraries to share Lily's story and teach children about kindness, compassion, and responsible pet ownership. Through her books and community work, Emily hopes to inspire children and families to treat animals with kindness - and to see rescue dogs not as former racers, but as beloved companions.
