Synopsis

That man will experience bodily resurrection after death is an idea that the early Christians held on to despite criticism from their Greco-Roman environment. This idea, however, had to be made plausible with the intellectual presuppositions of the time. Christine Jacobi examines ancient texts that make this attempt, attributing a key role to the body of the risen Christ, which is revealed on Easter morning and can be received in the Eucharist. In this way, the ancient texts also combine Christological and sacramental theological insights with the concept of resurrection.
