What happens when words are called upon to inventory images - that is, art objects? What are the methods and who are the protagonists of this kind of writing? This book aims to provide an original contribution to the study of inventorying with a special focus on the recording of art objects and graphic art as the true meeting point between collecting and writing in its Golden Century, the eighteenth century, and the important historiographical consequences of this exercise, which are also presented here.
