Does the Enlightenment have a genre? Does the woman disfigure and falsify philosophy? In the eighteenth century, the figure of the "woman philosopher" called into question the conditions by which philosophy is accessed and was associated with an imaginary of gender differences, caught between the dread of a deleterious confusion and the quest for a harmonious model.
