This volume is a collection of papers from the Annual Meeting of the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) held at the University of Southampton in September 1995. The theme of the meeting was language and education. The papers are grouped under four sub-themes: educational/applied linguistics discourse; language policy and education; professional culture in language education; and learner education in educational setting.
